New principles for course evaluations at SDU

Have you ever wished you could comment on a course after an exam? Or on elements that go across courses? Or do course evaluations just not seem that relevant? Then read on here.

How should the course evaluations be designed?
The overall principles for the evaluation of courses and programmes at SDU have been changed. Among other things, the new principles suggest that those responsible discuss the following:

  • The purpose: What is the purpose of a course evaluation? Is it about how a course should be structured or the need to develop pedagogical competences?
  • The process: Who, how and when? Is it always the students who evaluate? Could there be other choices than a survey maybe oral evaluation? And when is the appropriate time to evaluate? During the course, at the end or after the exam?
  • Actions: How do you ensure a suitable follow-up proces?  How do you ensure that knowledge about good practice is shared with others or that problems are solved before the next course roll?
How can you make your opinion heard?
The changes have been decided by the Council for Education, who are responsible for ensuring the managerial anchoring of SDU's development and quality assurance of courses and programmes.
The new principles won’t automatically change the current evaluation designs, but they provide a framework for study boards where students participate to revise practice. Get in touch with your representative if you have any input.
