Phishing

A phishing follow-up

Even though the phishing campaign was only active for a day due to a outage, we want to follow up on the results.

On Wednesday 15 November, SDU sent out a phishing campaign consisting of a fake email from itslearning. This was sent to all students at SDU. The purpose of the phishing campaign was to raise awareness of fake emails, and even though the campaign was only active for a day, we want to share the results.

In this phishing campaign, we have observed that approximately 13,000 of you students managed to read the email. We estimate this as a large part, if you look at how many hours the campaign was active. You're active on your email, and that's good.

But 20.2% of you hand out your SDU informations via the link the email contained.

Not all SDU's students have read the email, and therefore the 20% is based on the 13,000 who have read the email.

In addition, we estimate that a large part of the students - who have opened the email - have hand out their SDU informations. This marks and proves how important these phishing campaigns is.
