Adjusted timetable for the transfer of the Slagelse campus

SDU and RUC are now working towards a transfer date for the educational and research activities in Slagelse on 1 September 2024 instead of at the turn of the year.

Since 1 March, the University of Southern Denmark and Roskilde University have engaged in positive talks on Roskilde University taking over the University of Southern Denmark’s activities in Slagelse. In March and April, the talks focused on clarifying a large number of issues and conditions that are relevant in relation to concluding a transfer agreement.

Recently, it has become clear that more time is needed for the clarification process. The overall timetable called for the transfer to take place at the beginning of 2024, but this will have to be pushed back accordingly. In order to avoid a mid-term transfer, the two rectors have agreed that it can take place on 1 September 2024. The adjusted timetable also means that exams in the summer of 2024 will be held by the University of Southern Denmark, and that first-year students can commence their studies in Slagelse on 1 September 2024, at which time Roskilde University will take over.

The two university boards are not expected to approve a transfer agreement until autumn 2023. The agreement is subject to final approval by the Minister of Higher Education and Science.
