Philoteket is an area of the library at Campus Odense intended for PhD students. It is well-suited for larger events, whether they be academic or social in nature.
PhD students can book Philoteket by contacting PAUSD (The PhD Association at the University of Southern Denmark) or by sending an email to philoteket@bib.sdu.dk. The space is located on the first floor of the library.
Recurring PhD activities in Philoteket include:
- PAUSD events: PAUSD hosts meetings, academic workshops, board game nights and other social events in Philoteket.
- PhD Cafés: These events are a mix of academic and social activities designed for PhD students. They typically take place around midday, and coffee and lunch are included.
- RCR courses: The mandatory PhD course Responsible Conduct of Research is usually held in Philoteket.
Philoteket is divided into two areas: an academic space equipped with AV technology for presentations and online meetings, and a social space with a lounge area and a kitchenette, managed by PAUSD. This setup allows PhD students to host everything from practice PhD defences to Chinese New Year celebrations in Philoteket.
Please note that Philoteket is not fully enclosed, so it is not suitable for meetings requiring confidentiality.
