Exams and the student’s final diploma must be credible proof of the student’s acquired competences at SDU. Here you can read more about SDU’s principles in their effort to ensure that students take exams in an honest manner.
SDU’s principles for credible exams
SDU offers high-quality study programmes and guarantees credible exams.
High-quality study programmes
SDU works to ensure the quality of the University’s study programmes. SDU has a constant focus on ensuring that the University’s exams provide a fair and credible representation of what the students have learned. SDU does this by ensuring that the evaluation of the exams is of high quality and by making sure that everyone complies with the exam rules.
System for rule violations
To ensure credible exams, SDU has a clear system where employees know their rights and obligations and what to do if there is a suspicion that an exam has not been conducted correctly. There are also clear consequences for students who do not comply with the rules during exams. SDU therefore sanctions students who break the rules the very first time this is discovered. Any violation of the rules is sanctioned, as it affects the proper evaluation of the exam, regardless of whether the violation was intentional or not.
Exam types and rules
SDU has different types of exams with different rules. There are oral and written exams that must be conducted either on the University’s campus or as take-home assignments. You can find links to the rules at the bottom of this page.
SDU prevents cheating in exams
SDU adapts the exams to technological developments, thereby preventing the misuse of technology to achieve a better assessment than the actual performance. SDU therefore uses electronic monitoring systems during exams and anti-plagiarism systems that automatically check all submitted exam papers. SDU is aware of the advances and challenges that the world of technology brings with it in relation to conducting exams, so the process is always in step with reality.
By focusing on a smooth process for handling cheating in exams, clear guidelines for employees in case of suspected violation of the rules and sanctions for violation of our disciplinary rules, already at the first offence, SDU has established a process that helps prevent and detect exam cheating. This ensures that SDU’s diplomas remain credible.
