Rules for the use of generative AI in examinations
The rules have been updated and the new rules have come into force on 1 September 2024
25.08.2024
From 1 September you can register and cancel registration for course elements
New rules will allow you to better organize your course of studyFrom September 1, 2024, new rules regarding registration for courses and exams will apply, allowing you to change your registrations for the upcoming semester. What were the old rules?Since 2014, registration for courses and exams has been binding. It was the Study Progress Reform at the time – and the inherent requirement to reduce the average durations of study – that was the main driver behind the University’s decision that students could no longer freely cancel registration for courses and exams. What are the new rules? The new rules allow you to cancel registration for course elements and exam within the first 21 days of the semester. From 1 September this year, the rules will be relaxed, and you will now have the opportunity to change your choices, that you made several months before in relation to the upcoming semester’s courses. Previously, you could only substitute one elective for another elective, and now you can cancel your registration without finding a substitute. Also, you have the opportunity to enrol in new course elements if places are available.Be aware of these exceptions

If, for example, the course element is costly, a programme is allowed to decide that it is not possible to cancel registration. Information appears in the course description.
If you have been automatically registered by the University, if the exam has already started or if it concerns the thesis, you cannot cancel your registration.
There may also be personal circumstances that prevent you from cancelling registration for a course element. For example, if you have used examination attempts in an exam, you can cancel your registration for the course, but you will still have to complete the course element.
If you are unsure whether your registration to a course element is binding, you can contact the registration office at SDU Education through SPOC for further information.News rules in place for the winter exams When you sit your exams this winter, you will also find that the rules have been relaxed. If it is relevant for you, as a new feature, you can regret having registered for a re-examination. The option is valid until 14 days before the re-examination takes place.Would you like to know more?At mitsdu.dk/courseregistration you can always find and read the current rules. There, you will also find a guide on how to cancel your registration.
