When do I need an ID card?
You will need an ID card for all locked doors where a card reader is
located.
The doors are locked outside of the University’s normal opening hours.
SDU has a common electronic acces control system. The pupose is to increase security and simplify the administration of access to SDU's buildings.
As a rule, the exterior doors will be open:
Monday trough Friday between 7.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.
If you require access outside of opening hours, you must use your card.
You are encouraged to always have your ID card (= student card) handy, as some areas on campus are always locked.
How do I get an ID card?
You will receive a student card at the beginning of your studies. The student card works as an ID card.
Do I have to activate the ID card?
Yes, you must activate the card yourself.
SDU has two different IT solutions for acces control, and therefore there are two different ways to activate your card:
Esbjerg, Kolding, Odense, Slagelse and Sønderborg
To activate your ID card, you have two options;
A) Email adkrobot@sdu.dk
Write your desired PIN code in the subject field of the email as follows:
nypin cardnumber desired PIN code
Example: nypin 281213 6541
Remember to include spaces.
Note: You must send the email from your SDU email account.
B) Use tablets
You can ude the tablets located at the entrances inside.
Place the card in front of the screen an follow the on-screen instructions.

To activate your ID card, yoy must use a Buanco card reader with a display.
These are located at all entrances
1. Gently swipe your ID card trough the slot on the right side of the card reader. The card should face the brown stripe to the left as shown on the card reader.
2. When the card reader has approved your ID card, 'INDTAST NY PINKODE' (ENTER NEW PIN') will appear on the display.
3. Enter 4 digits of your choise.
4. Repeat the 4 digits.
