For students on the Health Sciences programmes, classes begin around February 1st for the spring semester and September 1st for the autumn semester.
There may be minor deviations to the starting date, depending on which programme students have signed up for and which semester they are beginning.
For the autumn semester: At the earliest, the first Monday of the week in which September 1st falls.
For the spring semester: At the earliest, the first Monday of the week in which February 1st falls.
- In general, one can expect that July is class and exam free (both Bachelor’s and Master’s).
- For the autumn semester one can expect the conclusion of teaching and exams in late January, with the subsequent start of spring semester classes a few days later.

Students who are scheduled to attend clinics (medicine/pharmacy) please note that the clinic period may extend into both July and August. This clinic period may also take place in week 42 (which is class-free, in general), during Easter, and in the week up to Christmas.
During the year there are the following class-free periods:
- On Students’ Day (Studerendes dag), there are no classes after 10:00 am. The day falls either on the last Friday in April or the first Friday in May.
- In general, week 42 is class-free, as well as between Christmas and New Year.
- There are no classes on the day of the "Valg Undervejs" fair - This usually takes place in the end of February.
- There are no classes on Constitution Day (Grundlovsdag) – June 5th.
- There are no classes after 12:00 on the day of the Annual University Celebration (Årsfest). The Annual University Celebration is always held on the last Friday in October.
- There are no classes on Tuesday and Wednesday leading up to Easter.

Odense: Classes take place at J.B. Winsløws Vej (Winsløwparken) , Klinikbygningen (Kløvervænget, OUH), and at Campusvej 55.

Esbjerg: Classes take place at SDU Campus Esbjerg, Niels Bohrs Vej 9 and 10, 6700 Esbjerg.
- Classes are generally uniformly spread out in the period 08:00-18:00, Monday to Friday.
- Classes may, however, be held after 18:00 on weekdays and in the weekend. We do our best to avoid this though it may be necessary depending on classroom capacity.
- Examinations are held regularly during the semester depending on the programme, due to the modular or quarterly structure.

- Depending on the field of study, re-examinations will be held at various times.
- For some programmes, for example those with a quarterly structure, re-examinations will held immediately after the ordinary examination.
- For medical programmes, re-examinations will be held in August for the spring semester, while re-examinations for the autumn semester will be held at the same time as the next ordinary examination in the subject.
- Re-examinations will, however, always be held no later than 6 months after the ordinary examination.
