Rules for written take-home assignments

A written take-home assignment is an exam assignment that you answer at home or another place of your choice. Examples of written take-home assignment include:

  • take-home
  • synopsis
  • project report
  • portfolio assignments

Characteristics of a written take-home assignment (unless otherwise stated in the course description / itslearning):

  • The assignment is written from home (or another location that you choose).
  • All aids are allowed.
  • If the assignment is to be prepared individually, you may not communicate with others about the assignment.

At the bottom of the page, you will find useful links for formal requirements, how to avoid plagiarism, etc.

Before the exam

You should make sure well in advance that you are registered for the exam. You do this on SDU Student Self-Service.

For some types of written take-home assignments, an exam assignment is set – usually in the Digital Exam system or itslearning. At the start of the exam, you can download the exam assignment.

If you have problems downloading, contact the exam administrator as soon as possible. Contact information is available under the exam in question in the Digital Exam system or on itslearning.

Submission

Written take-home assignments are submitted in the Digital Exam system or on itslearning. If the exam paper has been prepared in a group, only one person from the group has to submit the exam paper, unless otherwise stated in the course description. If you submit as a group, it must be clear from the paper who has prepared each part of the assignment, so that individual assessments can be given. However, this does not apply to exam papers that will be defended orally.

The paper must be submitted no later than the submission deadline when the exam ends. You can only submit one file, unless otherwise specified. The exam paper must be submitted in PDF format, unless otherwise specified. Find out more about the requirements for your specific exam in the course description and/or on itslearning.

If you have problems submitting in the Digital Exam system, you must contact the exam administrator as soon as possible. Contact information is available under the exam in question in the Digital Exam system.

Your assessment is available in the SDU Student Self-Service no later than four weeks after the submission deadline. The month of July is not included.
