Erasmus+ Programme support opportunities

Not all people are the same. If you happen to be someone whose physical, mental or health-related circumstances make it difficult for you to participate in a mobility programme without additional support, you can benefit from the Erasmus+ programme. This is to ensure that you can take full advantage of an Erasmus+ mobility experience.

All universities participating in the Erasmus+ programme commit to ensuring equal access and opportunities to participants from all backgrounds. Therefore, students with physical, mental, or health-related conditions can benefit from the support services that the receiving institution offers to its local students, as well as additional financial support.

Additional grant

There are two types of additional financial support available, depending on your needs and costs:

Fewer Opportunities top-up

  • What is it? A top-up to the regular Erasmus+ grant, EUR 250 per month, available to students who have functional impairments or chronic/treatment-requiring conditions (mental, physical, or learning-related)
  • What is needed? Documentation of your condition, e.g. your SPS support statement (SPS støtteerklæring) or a sworn statement (Tro- og loveerklæring). We will send you the sworn statement template directly.

Inclusion Support

  • What is it? If you face extraordinarily high costs, e.g. due to adapted accommodation, travel assistance, medical attendance, supportive equipment, adaption of learning material, an accompanying person, etc., you can apply to have the actual costs covered.
  • What is needed? You need to provide the following information:
    • Medical statement/doctor’s certificate to document your condition (lægeerklæring)
    • Budget over the costs you need to have covered

The International Office will then apply for the additional financial support on your behalf. We will keep you informed during the process.

How do you apply?

If you are awarded an Erasmus+ exchange place or if you apply for the Erasmus+ Traineeship grant, you will automatically be informed about how to obtain the additional supporttt. The International Office will send the information directly to your SDU student email.

If you have any questions, make sure to reach out to the International Office.
