There are many reasons why making a work placement part of your course of study is a good idea. The aim is to ensure that you:
- Are given the chance to test and practice your theoretical skills
- To experience what it is like to actually solve a problem in reality
- Reflect on your possibilities and limitations with respect to your competences
- Get the perfect chance to start building a professional network
Numerous studies show that such work experiences will make you a much more attractive job applicant after graduation.
A work placement is not only good for you, but it is actually also beneficial for the company/organisation. By making you part of their company/organisation for a period of time, it gives them access to the latest research in their field and a chance to be looked over by your unprejudiced scrutiny.
There are many reasons why making an internship part of your course of study is a good idea. The aim is to ensure that you:
- Are given the chance to test and practice your theoretical skills

Registration is done via the Student Self Service as for other courses. The elective course you need to register for has the title "Internship - Company Report". Remember to register for the course before the semester starts.
The idea of the internship is that you get the opportunity to test the theoretical knowledge in practice. Your internship must therefore include the possibility to do so and must be designed in a way that you can prepare a report where you bring your knowledge from the education into play and reflect on your internship. The internship must be relevant to your study program.
Companies and organisations can give students on unpaid internships and unpaid study stays an acknowledgement of up to DKK 3,000 a month. Students who are on an internship abroad may receive a salary if there is a legal requirement for minimum wages in the country in question.
You need to find a company/organisation where you do an internship on your own. In collaboration with the company/organisation, you need to define your work tasks/work areas and, thus, determine the topic for your company report.
The topic of your company report and the work tasks need to be approved by the course responsible/lecturer of the course "Internship - Company Report".
You may get ideas for organisations and tasks from looking into the job bank at SDU - www.sdu.dk/jobbank.
When you register for the course "Internship - Company Report", the course responsible/lecturer automatically becomes your supervisor.
The supervisor agreement, and as part of this, the topic or topics for the report must be approved by a supervisor/lecturer and by the company/organisation. The supervisor agreement is filled in on the same form that you used to get a supervisor (see link to the digtial form "Supervisor agreement for internship/project oriented course" on the bottom of this page).
Download the agreement form: Student-company agreement, an agreement between the student and the company.
For the supervision agreement to be approved, you must state the following:
- Name of organization/company at which the internship takes place
- Name and title of the contact person at the university
- Period for internship
- Working hours per week
- Description of the work content of the internship
- A preliminary project description.
The profile responsible may grant deviations from the deadline for approval of the agreement.
- To find a company or organisation for the internship and agree on work tasks that are related to your study program and fill in the PDF form "Student agreement on a project-oriented course" (see above)
- Register for the course "Internship - Company Report" via the Student Self Service.

Deadline: August 15 - To get the supervisor agreement approved before the deadline.
