Special programmes

A number of special programmes exist that supports students financially to do a study abroad activity:

Summer school

Some students choose to enrol at a summer school abroad to study a single course or to gain other qualifications.

If you choose to pursue this type of study abroad activity your will have to do it mostly by yourself. You will need to find and research which summer schools are of relevance to you and furthermore do the application for the summer school on your own.

You may be eligible for the Danish Study Abroad Scholarship (Udlandsstipendium) if you can get the stay preapproved by your Study Board. Alternatively you may apply for a grant from the Internationalisation Fund for these activities as long as you receive a credit transfer of minimum 5 ECTS. For more information about these two possibilities, check out the page SDU Travel Grants.

Writing your BA or thesis abroad

It's possible to write your BA or thesis abroad, e.g. in connection with an internship at a company, or if you are attached to a research centre or similar. It is important that you are connected to an institution, company or similar while abroad if you want to apply for a grant from the Internationalisation Fund.*

Short, intensive programmes or research seminars abroad

Some areas of study may include the possibility of doing shorter intensive study periods abroad, where a group of students travel abroad for a few weeks to follow a course.*

*It is possible to apply for a grant from the Internationalisation Fund for these activities as long as you receive a credit transfer of minimum 5 ECTS and lasts at least 14 days. Please contact SDU International if you need further clarification.
