- Are you eligible to?
If you wish to stand as a candidate, you must first check whether you can even be elected. To be 'eligible', you need to be listed on the current "electoral list", which is published on 1 October 2026. This means that you can stand for election from 1 October at the earliest, and then have until 2 November 2026 at 12.00 to line up.
- Log in to E-vote and create a list of candidates
If you are listed on the electoral roll, you must log in to the electronic candidate notification E-vote. Here, you create a list of candidates for the council, board or committee you wish to run for. Remember to choose a cool name! (But nothing offensive, please).
- Add candidates to the list
Once the candidate list has been created, you can now add candidates to that list. Since it is you who created the list, you are the "list coordinator" and therefore automatically appear as a candidate on the list. But it may be that you have some fellow candidates who should also be added to the list.

- Add nominators and send out invitations
In order to stand for election, you must have nominators who support you. In other words, these are your fellow students who endorse you as a candidate. You must therefore add a minimum of 4 nominators and send them an invitation. If you stand for election for The Board you must add a minimum of 24 nominators. On E-Vote, you will see a drop-down menu listing all available (eligible) fellow students. Here, simply select and add the relevant fellow students to your list of candidates as nominators. They will then automatically receive an invitation from you.
- Send the list of candidates
Once the list is finalised (i.e. accepted by all candidates and nominators), it must be sent to the election secretariat and is thus definitive.
