Why have you chosen to run?
I have always loved democracy and politics. Therefore, I know that the only way to make a real difference is by getting involved and seeking influence. I want to make that difference by serving my fellow students as their representative, seeking influence on their behalf, and putting our wishes and needs on the agenda where decisions about our education and student life are made. I have been on the Study Board for Political Science for just under a year now. I have learned a lot about how our university actually works, and I want to use that experience to improve our conditions.
Is there a specific cause you want to fight for if you are elected?
I want an easier and better student life for myself and my fellow students.
As students, the focus should be on academic immersion and doing our best. Therefore, it is a problem when practical matters get in the way. To make it easier, more time should be given between submissions, so there is always at least 24 hours between a submission deadline and the start of an assignment. Automatic enrollment in courses and re-exams should be introduced so that no one falls through the cracks by accident, and transparent reading lists with links to where digital articles and materials can be accessed should be required.
To create a better student life, I will enhance the social, academic, and democratic life by allocating more funds to student associations and addressing the strict rules in the association area. At SDU, far too little money is spent on student associations and student activities. For example, RUC spent 1.6 million kroner more on student activities last year than SDU, even though RUC had less than half as many students. At the same time, the rules for the allocation and use of funds at SDU are stricter than at most universities. To boost student life, more money needs to be spent, and more manageable rules need to be introduced.
What can be expected from you as a student representative?
I want to be an open and accessible representative who you can always talk to in the hallways or write to on Messenger and email. I will make sure to be present at the university, attend as many events as possible, and always take suggestions and complaints from students seriously. I will delve deeply into the issues in meetings and work hard to ensure the well-being and rights of students. My work as your representative will only get harder and worse if I don’t know how my fellow students are doing and what their opinions are.
