Wellbeing and support services

Get support, advice or someone to talk to if you’re feeling down, lonely, stressed or facing other challenges during your studies.

It is perfectly normal to go through periods when the programme of study or life outside university feels difficult. There are several options for free and confidential support and counselling, both at SDU and outside the university.

Here you will find services where you can talk to someone about issues such as stress, loneliness, grief, doubts about your studies, mental health issues or personal challenges.

Have you lost a parent, grandparent, sibling, friend or someone else who was close to you? And would you like to talk to other students who have also experienced a loss? If so, a bereavement support group might be just the thing for you.

The bereavement support group provides a space to talk openly about the thoughts and feelings that come with grief and loss. The group is open to everyone. You do not need to be religious or a member of the Danish National Church to take part.

What can you expect?

A bereavement support group won’t take away your grief, but it will give you the chance to meet other students in the same situation and realise that you’re not alone.

The group is a confidential community where everyone is bound by a duty of confidentiality.

Where and when?

The bereavement support group meets at SDU in Odense.

  • We meet around 10 times
  • The meetings take place approximately every other week in the late afternoon
  • You can find out specific dates and times by contacting the student chaplain

Practical information

  • There is space for a maximum of 8 participants.
  • Registration is required.
  • Participation is free of charge.

Before the group starts, you will be invited to a no-obligation introductory chat over a cup of coffee or tea. Here you can find out more about the programme and see if it’s right for you.

Contact

The bereavement support group is led by student chaplain Lene Jørgensen, SDU, who has experience in discussing grief, loss and life crises with students. If you have any questions, or would simply like to find out more, you are always very welcome to contact:
