This workshop session is designed specifically for research support professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in impact development. Through hands-on engagement with real-life applications—both successful and rejected — participants will collaboratively explore how to strengthen impact narratives in relation to specific impact understandings of particular funding bodies and instruments. The aim is to practise and learn collectively to be able to support researchers more effectively.
The workshop includes practical exercises using tools such as Theory of Change, the 3I model, and SMART goals, as well as an introduction to The Impact Game—a board game developed to foster strategic thinking around research impact. The session concludes with a reflective discussion on how these approaches can be integrated into researchers’ workflows and extended beyond individual applications.
