About the Library
The library is primarily designed to serve and support students and researchers at the University of Southern Denmark in the three disciplines: engineering, communication, and social science. It is also a public library, and is as such accessible to everybody.
Activities
The campus library administrates the loan of books and journals from both its own collections and the other collections of the University Library of Southern Denmark. We can also get ahold of materials from other libraries in Denmark and abroad. In addition to user guidance and providing literature, the library’s work includes the selection, acquisition, classification, and cataloguing of books and journals within the campus library’s subject areas.
Library introductions are organized at the beginning of each semester. These can also be arranged for groups continuously throughout the semester. Our teaching can be at basic, intermediate, or expert levels on the use of the library and our various databases.
Availability
A good deal of the library’s stock of books and journals are directly accessible on our open shelves so you can fetch the books you want to borrow yourself. (Bibliographies, reference works, special dictionaries, handbooks, and certain journals are, however, only for use on the premises).
Facilities
The library is arranged as 24/7. This means that SDU students and staff can access the library day and night any day of the week.
There are study areas for every need at the library. The library allows for quiet reading/work in the reading rooms, and furthermore provides work stations for individuals and groups. It is also possible to borrow keys for lockers where you can store your personal belongings. The lockers are located on level 1 in block E and in the library's reading rooms.
We have a lounge for you to enjoy if you need a break. You can find various games, puzzles, magazines, and newspapers here.
We also have a multifunction machine for scanning, printing, and photocopying, as well as a 3D printer available.
There are a number of computers with Internet access for searching in the library’s catalogue, other library catalogues, databases, journals, etc.
There is also a Self-Service machine where you can borrow, return, or renew books to your account, even if there is no staff available.
