As a new student in Web Communication Design, you will soon be working with HTML and CSS, which are used for constructing and styling a website. To be well prepared for the study start, you are encouraged to follow the tutorials listed below. They will give you a basic understanding of HTML and CSS.
- HTML tutorial (w3schools.com)
- CSS tutorial (w3schools.com)
- Introduction to HTML5 (9 hours)

Besides the above tutorials, we recommend install one (or more) of the following text editors and the FTP client Filezilla before study start. Text editors are used for coding, while the FTP client is used for uploading the written code files to a server, making it possible to see the result of your code as a website.

- Notepad++ (Windows)
- BBEdit (Mac)
- FTP-client (Windows and Mac)
There will be an introductory course on HTML5 and CSS as part of the course Web Formats and Standards. The course in HTML and CSS is mainly targeted students with no previous experience with HTML and CSS and will therefore start at the very beginning.
