By showing consideration for each other and working together to take care of SDU’s property and facilities, we can create a safe, respectful and efficient environment for everyone.
Here are some important house rules to get you started. Please also observe the instructions on signs and notices.
Technical Services is here to help you! We help colleagues, students and guests make themselves comfortable on university premises. Follow our instructions – and please remember that we only want the best for you and everyone else!

House rules
Indoor smoking: No, it's not allowed. Nor are e-cigarettes. Follow the signs and instructions.
Outdoor smoking: See the overview of smoking shelters. Remember: No smoking in the courtyards! Note: Campus Esbjerg, Slagelse and Kolding are completely smoke-free, both indoors and outdoors.
Need more details? See SDU´s principles for smoking and tobacco use.
Clean up after yourself: Nobody wants other people's crumbs and used napkins. Use the bins provided and sort your waste. P.S.: Crumbs should go in food waste – used napkins in residual waste.
Canteen service: Other people's dirty plates and cutlery aren’t a winner either. Please place your used tableware on the canteen service trolleys.
Celebrations? Yes, please! Confetti? No thanks. Do celebrate graduation and great results, but leave confetti tubes and the like at home. It takes ages to clean it up.
Park outside: Buy a blanket for your racer if it’s cold. No bikes, scooters, skateboards and the like indoors. They should be parked in racks or bike sheds outside.
Exception: SDU employees can use scooters and small electric vehicles indoors for work purposes.
For employees on wheels: Please be considerate, adjust your speed and stick to the marked lanes.
Keep your voice down: Good company and healthy discussions can be noisy. Continue socialising, but keep it low-key to avoid disrupting classes and meetings.
Extra quiet during the exam period: The yellow signs on the doors show where exams are in progress. Shh.
No pets: They’re cute, but not everyone feels that way, and many people are allergic. So sorry, no dogs or other pets indoors.
Exception: Service dogs are generally welcome. What is a service dog? It is a specially trained dog that helps people with physical or mental disabilities. These dogs can perform tasks such as fetching items, opening doors or providing reassurance and support. Service dogs are trained to work closely with their owners and are an important aid in everyday life.
Are you a student looking to bring your service dog along? Contact your programme to discuss how this can be done in the best possible way. Read more about students and service dogs at SDU.
Notice boards: Please use only the fixed notice boards for posters and notices. Do not place notices on glass, doors or walls, as the tape is difficult to remove and leaves marks. Note that some notice boards are reserved for specific purposes.
Are you part of an association or a similar group that would like to have a notice board reserved for you? Learn more about borrowing and using the notice boards.
Emergency situations: Stop the accident if possible. Call 1-1-2 and evacuate the area if necessary. Then call 6550 8888 and inform SDU.
Fire considerations: Candlelight is prohibited. No kitchen equipment such as coffee machines, kettles, microwaves, refrigerators or similar in rooms and offices.
