Lunch meeting: Managing Normativity in Environmental Humanities Research: On Praxis Epistemology and the Question of Public Communication

CUHRE is "on a mission." We are committed to conducting research that (according to the SCC) contributes to "climate neutrality by 2050 at the latest." Therefore, we are dedicated to making a difference in and for practice, ensuring that the consequences of our research become (to varying degrees) measurable societal contributions to the green transition. 

As researchers, we must engage in 'praxis,' which, at a minimum, we understand as “reflection and action upon the world in order to transform it,” to quote Paulo Freire. Acting as a "thought leader" is just one tool in our toolbox, for instance, through engagement in public debates, advising national or more localized green transition initiatives/projects, participating in expert panels, and more.

At this CUHRE lunch meeting, we will focus on the epistemological demands and dilemmas that arise when conducting research with this mission. Hence, the theme of "managing normativity" in environmental humanities research.
