Are you familiar with SDU's pedagogical ideals?

An updated version of the guiding principles for teaching at SDU has been approved. Read about what you as a student can expect in this area here.

The guiding principles for teaching unfold the university pedagogical ideals on which SDU's policy for educational quality is based, namely student-centred learning, activating teaching and engaging communities.

These principles mean that teaching at SDU always
  1. focuses on students' deep learning, independence and critical thinking
  2. is based on students' active involvement in learning activities
  3. is established through a concrete, binding community between students, fellow students and lecturers
The principles are aligned with SDU's recently updated approach to evaluation of teaching, and they are an extension of SDU's principles for research and practice integration in teaching and education.  You can find more about the principles on the quality assurance system website.

In practice, the principles mean that all teaching must be organised to include several learning activities. And it must be clear which learning activities the lecturer, individual students and students together in groups are involved in before, during and after each teaching sequence, as well as what takes place online and what takes place in the in-person meeting.

The principles also mean that there must be collaboration between students and lecturers both during and between classes, for example, so that students are involved by lecturers in different ways in the planning and evaluation of teaching content, learning activities, goal expectations and forms of feedback.

You can read more about the Guiding Principles and what they mean via the link below. If you want to learn more about how the principles are applied in your programme, you can contact a student representative on your study board.
