Do you want to stand out in the job market – and at the same time gain international experience during your studies, without having to go on a long stay abroad?
Through EPICUR, a European university alliance, you can take individual courses together with students from other European universities. The teaching takes place either online, as blended learning (a combination of online and physical attendance) or with physical presence.
When you participate in an EPICUR course, you will – in addition to becoming academically stronger – have the opportunity to develop your intercultural competences and strengthen your language skills – qualities that are increasingly in demand in the job market.
What is EPICUR?
EPICUR (European Partnership for an Innovative Campus Unifying Regions) is an alliance of nine universities in seven European countries – including SDU. The goal is to create a common European university where students, teachers and researchers collaborate across borders and disciplines.
As an SDU student, you have access to courses, research activities and exchange programs that have been developed jointly by the partner universities. This gives you a unique opportunity to expand both your professional and personal horizons in an international learning environment – without necessarily having to leave Denmark.

More information on EPICUR
You apply for courses via EPICUR's course catalogue (https://register.epicur.auth.gr/assets/courses/catalogue/#/index) which is open three times a year.
Application periods
- Courses autumn 2025: The application period is from June 10 to June 17.
- Courses spring 2026: The application period is from November 14 to December 1.
- Courses summer 2026: The application period is from February 16 to March 9.
Please note that if you wish to apply for an EPICUR course offered by SDU, you must apply via Student Self-Service instead. The application period follows SDU's elective course periods. If the course is not visible in Student Self-Service, you must first have it approved by your study board (see the section on How do I apply for credits?).
Documents
When applying via EPICUR's course catalogue, you must attach the following documents:
- Transcript of Records (can be downloaded via Student Self-Service)*
- Proof of Enrolment (can be downloaded via Student Self-Service)*
- Proof of Language Proficiency (link to EPICUR language form)*
- Motivational Letter
* These documents must be signed by SDU and your international coordinator can do this for you.
EPICUR offers a wide range of individual courses. You can find information about the available courses in the course catalogue, which is updated in connection with the application periods. (See more under How do I apply?).
If you want the course to be included in your education (i.e. replace an existing course), you must apply for advance credit through your Study Board.
You can also choose to study the course extracurricularly, which means that the course does not count towards your education and you will not receive ECTS from SDU. The course will not appear on your diploma, but you will still receive a course certificate with ECTS from the university offering the course.
If the course you are studying is offered at a university other than in Denmark and requires physical presence, you can apply for a mobility grant to cover part of your travel and accommodation costs. For further information, contact SDU's EPICUR office at epicur@sdu.dk.
If the course you are studying requires physical presence at a university other than in Denmark, it is important that you are properly insured. Contact your insurance company for advice on which insurance will cover your needs during your stay.
If the course you are studying requires physical attendance at a university other than in Denmark, the university offering the course will inform you about accommodation options. You are responsible for covering your own accommodation costs, but you can apply for a mobility grant to help with the costs (read more under How do I apply for a mobility grant?).
If the course you are studying requires physical attendance at a university outside Denmark, you are responsible for booking and paying for your travel. However, you can apply for a mobility grant that can cover part of your transport costs (read more under How do I apply for a mobility grant?).
You can contact the international coordinator at your program or SDU's EPICUR office at epicur@sdu.dk.
