Talent activities

Talent activities are for students who are following their course of study within the standard time limits and who want to develop their skills beyond what their degree programme itself allows.

You earn ECTS when you complete talent activities. All talent programmes and -activities are recorded on your diploma, but the extra ECTS don't replace any of the courses and other educational elements that are included in your course of study.

Talent programmes and individual talent activities

At SDU, we offer several different talent programmes. Some of them are interdisciplinary, which gives you the chance to work with students from other fields of study.

Additionally, you can get approval for individual talent activities initiated either by yourself or a teacher/supervisor.

Below are examples of what can be approved as individual talent activities:

  • Participation in relevant conferences
  • Participation in relevant competitions
  • Participation in relevant research and development activities that aren't part of your degree programme
  • Publication of papers in recognised journals

  • The activities you  engage in must be academically relevant to your degree programme and you must be able to document the academic outcome.
  • You must complete your degree programme within the standard time limit and may not be delayed in your course of study at any time.
  • The activities you engage in must be approved by your study board.

In order to get an individual talent activity added to your diploma, a supervisor or other academic professional must be affiliated with the activity.

The supervisor/academic professional is responsible for applying for the study board's approval of the activity.
