You've been phished!

)

Phishing is characterized as cybercrime, where hackers try to collect confidential information about you. It can be anything from address, name and passwords to card informations. These hackers uses different identities and usually they send an email urging you to disclose or give some personal information, after which it is misused.

Below we give you some tips on how to avoid these attacks

  • Check the sender domain or the sender's name – does it seem credible?
  • Check for spelling and/or grammar fails – are there any strange wordings?
  • Check the link address – does it seem authentic or suspicious?
  • Ask yourself, why would they need my personal information
  • Feel free to hover your mouse over the link, sometimes more information pops up
  • Ask your colleagues or fellow students if they have received the same email
  • If you identify an email as phishing, report it

The picture below shows where to look to signs that the email is fake

Once you have clicked on the link, you will automatically be linked to some courses, which you are very welcome to take. These will strengthen your awareness and strengthen your resistance to phishing attacks. These courses are, of course, voluntary. This means that you decide yourself whether it is something you want to take. You will receive reminders to complete the course. If you do not want to participate in the exercises, just disregard these.
