AGE OF HOPE. Author talk – an afternoon with Professor Richard Toye

Richard Toye will talk about his new book Age of Hope: Labour, 1945, and the Birth of Modern Britain (Bloomsbury, 2023), followed by comments and an audience Q&A.

Richard Toye is a Professor of History at the University of Exeter. His recent books include Age of Promises: Electoral Pledges in Twentieth Century Britain (2021, with D Thackeray), Munich, Politics and the People (2021, with J Gottlieb), Churchill, a Life in the News (2020), Imagining Britain’s Economic Future, c. 1800-1975 (2018, with D Thackeray and A Thompson), The Aftermath of Suffrage (2013, with J Gottlieb), Lloyd George and Churchill (2007), The UN and Global Political Economy (2004, with J Toye), and The Labour Party and the Planned Economy (2003). He has written for a wide range of media outlets, including CNN, The New York Times, The Guardian, and the Times Literary Supplement. He has also been featured in podcasts, on radio stations, and in TV documentaries around the world.
