Capitalism Thursdays: Capitalism as a Historical Perspective

Capitalism is one of the great puzzles of the modern world. On the one hand, capitalist societies have seen levels of prosperity unknown to other types of societies – on the other hand, the dynamics of capitalism continue to generate inequalities, instabilities, and ecological challenges. DIAS now launches Capitalism Thursdays as a new forum for talks and panels on the main questions of capitalism.

Speakers
  • Erik Bengtsson (Lund University)
  • Mary Hilson (Aarhus University)
  • Jeppe Nevers (SDU),
Chaired by Paul Sharp (SDU).

In this inaugural seminar, Erik Bengtsson will speak on capitalism and inequality in the Nordic countries. Jeppe Nevers and Mary Hilson will exemplify different ways to think about capitalism in Danish history. Afterwards, they will all participate in a panel moderated by Paul Sharp.
