Profile - Area of specialization 
The Focus area of the profile:
Global logistics and Supply Chain Management

 

 

The focus area of the profile is Global Logistics, Operations and Supply Chain Management. Graduates with this profile have greater knowledge within the main subjects that are relevant for these areas. The profile comprises four constituent courses: Supply Chain Inventory and Production Planning, Supply Chain Links and Enterprise Resource Planning, Strategic Issues in Supply Chain Management and Management Accounting. These courses combine the strategic, the tactical and the operational aspects. Cost accounting outlines certain control and incentive problems in relation to both the individual partner but also all partners in the chain. The 2nd semester courses have focus on the full chain. The graduate have skills in in using tools and models designed to analyze, coordinate, plan and optimize core areas of a firm. 

 

Management Accounting

 

The focus area of the profile is the firms’ management and finance function areas. These areas are important not only to production firms but also to modern knowledge based firms.

Graduates of the Management Accounting profile have obtained advanced knowledge of accounting through the required courses. The coursework is firmly grounded in Micro-economic theory. The graduate can use, produce, and develop accounting information for decision and control purposes both in the context of a multi-product firm and in the context of knowledge based firms. The graduate has demonstrated substantial insights into reporting to financial markets, and the interaction between accounting information and financial markets.

Furthermore, the graduate is able to develop, formulate, and solve advanced accounting models. Finally the graduate has gained competencies in evaluating the design of management accounting systems.

 

Accounting and Finance

 

Graduates of the Accounting & Finance profile have obtained advanced knowledge of accounting and finance through the required advanced courses in accounting and finance. The coursework is firmly grounded in Micro-economic theory. The graduate can use, produce, and develop accounting information for decision and control purposes. The graduate has demonstrated substantial insights into the function of financial markets, financial instruments and the interaction between accounting information and financial markets. Furthermore, the graduate is able to develop, formulate, and solve advanced accounting and financial models.

 

International Business & Management

 

The focus area of the profile is International Business and Management. The graduates have an advanced understanding of the international business environment. They have developed a global perspective on business operating in different national and cultural contexts.

The graduates have gained knowledge about and skills in using methods and tools which can support the firm’s relationship to the external environment and the interactions between firms, governments and society in an international context. Furthermore the graduates have gained competences in managing operations in foreign markets e.g. sales subsidiary, joint ventures etc.


International Business & Marketing

 

The focus area of the profile is marketing, including; retailing, services, business to business, marketing research as well as modules on other functional areas that influence management decisions in marketing. The graduates has gained knowledge about and skills in using methods and tools which give competences for a career in marketing, sales, advertising or media related jobs.

Finally, the graduate has gained skills in analyzing rules and regulations imposed by governments in order to gain competences to pursue careers in a number of areas including market research, imports, consultancy, exporting services marketing, direct marketing and distribution management.

 

International Business and Law

 

The focus area of the profile is International Business and Law. Graduates from this profile have greater knowledge within the main subjects in: Foundations of International Business, International Market Relations, International Management, and International Trade Law Disputes and International Transport Law. Furthermore, the Graduates have skills in using methods and tools which can support learning within the areas of the legal and managerial aspects of international business and law through knowledge about perspectives on Law and society.

The Graduates have gained competences in defining and implementing solutions to international firms and organizations that enables the firm to operate within international laws and agreements.

 

Strategy and Organization

 

Strategy and Organization graduates have knowledge of contemporary strategic management and organization design. The contents represent state-of-the-art in strategy and organization research and practice. Graduates have skills to formulate and implement business and corporate strategy. The profile focuses on skills and methods and tools that give competences supporting careers in management consulting, corporate staff functions, general management or business development. Graduates have competencies in managing business level and corporate level strategy and business improvement project as well as analytical skills that are useful for developing and implementing business and corporate strategy using industry analysis, analysis of organization design and firm scope.

 

Corporate Strategy

In accordance with the curriculum, section 1.1 the student who completes the profile will obtain the same competencies through academic and practical focus as described below:

The focus area of the profile is Corporate Strategy. Students on this profile will have greater knowledge within the main subjects in contemporary economics and management of large enterprises.

The graduate can integrate theories and methods obtained in; Corporate Finance, Foundations of Organization, and Foundations of Management, Financial Reporting, Personnel Economics, and Corporate Strategy and Organization Design. Graduates will have skills in mergers and acquisition, diversification and divestment, designing incentives, and developing effective organizational structures. Students on this profile will have gained competencies in management consulting, corporate staff functions, general management or business development

 

Management of Innovations

Processes

 

Management of Innovation Processes graduates have knowledge of contemporary management of technological innovation and business development, specifically how innovation drives long term growth and development of sustained competitive advantages. The skills students acquire give competences for careers in business development, consulting, and innovation management. The key subjects include formulating and implementing strategy, analyzing and designing innovative organizations, and management of technology.

Graduates have further obtained competencies in managing business and corporate level projects that focus on development, introduction, and implementation of new technologies and methods. Particularly, students can connect the technological aspects of the business with the commercial aspects.

 

Management of People

 

Management of People graduates have knowledge about managing firms’ human resources, and develop structured and principled insights regarding the salient issues of managing people. Graduates can connect human resource subjects to wider firm and corporate level strategic issues, and develop and implement effective human resource management strategies which support the firm’s goals.

Graduates have competences that support careers in corporate staff functions, general or human resource management, and consulting. Graduates have theoretical and practical skills that enable them to take charge of key management functions and projects in human resource management. A key feature of the profile is its focus on principled ways of thinking about the key policies and choices of recruiting, developing, and retaining talent.


Communication Management & Leadership

 

In accordance with the curriculum, section 1.1 the student who completes the profile will obtain the same competency through academic and practical focus as described below:

The focus area of the profile is the processes of integrated communication from an organizational as well as a market-based perspective. Different modes and methods of communication are discussed in the organizational context of leadership and human resources management. This profile focuses on the interplay between internal and external communication in both private and public sector organizations and gives students competences to integrate these dimensions and to analyse the dynamic interactions of individual needs, company goals, and environmental factors in relation to communication and leadership. The student will have gained knowledge about and skills in using methods and tools relevant for analyzing communication and leadership issues in organizational contexts and beyond.


Brand Management and Marketing Communication

 

In accordance with the curriculum, sektion 1.1 the student who completes the profile will obtain the same compentency through academic and practical focus as described below:

The focus area of the profile is the marketing communication process from the corporate to the brand level using advanced, socio-cultural theoretical perspectives on consumer markets.

Graduates can analyze the fundamental social and cultural principles and logics underlying contemporary communication and branding challenges, using state-of-the-art research based theory. Finally, the graduate has competencies in analyzing contemporary relationships between marketing communications and branding, the corporation and consumer markets as well as in applying contemporary principles of cultural brand management and ethnographic market research methods. The graduate has competencies in performing Brand Management at both strategic and tactical level.


Marketing Globalization and Culture

 

The focus area of the profile is Globalization and Cultural Marketing. Students on this profile will have gained knowledge within the main subjects in: socio-cultural perspectives on consumption, marketing and branding as well ethnographic approaches to market research using advanced marketing theory. The graduate have skills in integrating theories and is able to analyse the fundamental social and cultural principles and logics that spur processes of globalization and their consequences for markets, corporations and consumers.Finally, graduates have gained competences in analysing the contemporary relationships between marketing and culture and managing similarities and differences between different cultures as well as in applying contemporary principles of cultural brand management and ethnographic market research methods in a globalizing cultural economy.

 

 

European Business Management

The focus area of the profile is management of Business in Europe. The European Union is increasingly gaining in importance for the management of organizations doing business in Europe and managing their global operations from Europe. Business activity in Europe takes place within the context of a common European historical, cultural and social background and within common political, legal and economic frameworks. The profile in European Business Management provides students with an advanced understanding of the European business environment by developing cross-European perspectives on business combined with a deep understanding of the different national and cultural contexts in which firms operate. Finally, the student will gain competences in operating in European cultures since it is mandatory to live in another European country for 2 (two) semesters.
