Student Guide to Work Placement/company-based internship

Applicable for study programmes under the Study Board for Design and Tourism: MA in International Tourism and Leisure Management and Danish Design study programmes

Entry into force: 15-01-17, ammended 05-05-2021 (applicable from autumn 2017, info meeting will take place during the 2nd semester)

When?

  • On your 3rd semester
  • You must finish your project-oriented course (which includes an internship) by the end of December.

How much?

For the 20 ECTS project-oriented course, an internship of minimum 10 weeks of 30 hours.

For the 30 ECTS project-oriented course, an internship of minimum 15 weeks of 30 hours.

How many ECTS?

A project-oriented course weights either 20 or 30 ECTS. Check your curriculum for options.

When is the exam?

The exam takes place in January – re-exam, if any, will take place in February.

How do I go about it?

  1. Participate in the information meeting. The information meeting will take place at the beginning of on your 2nd semester, or possibly during your 1st semester.
  2. Register on the student self service portal for the project-oriented course (internship) during the course registration period in May. Educational Law and Registration will send you an e-mail about it.
  3. Find a company *) – Please notice that you are allowed to receive a maximum of DKK3,000 as a gratuity for your efforts in the company
  4. Fill in the contract on SPOC and have the company sign it
  5. Find a supervisor – Contact Bodil Stilling Blichfeldt at bsb@sdu.dk
  6. The contract, including information about supervisor must be completed no later than 15 August
  7. Begin your project-oriented course (internship) – make sure that you comply with the conditions for duration and completion
  8. Upload your report on Digital Exam – you will find information on submission date and time under the Exam menu on MySDU and on Digital Exam when the time approaches. Check your curriculum to make sure that you know the examination rules in relation to this course
