DIAS Wild Wednesday: One World, One Science?

A panel game curated by Søren Askegaard featuring Karl Attard, Maria Timofeeva, Pat Treusch, and Joel Cox

Join us for a Wild Wednesday that promises both depth and delight, as we dive into the playful yet profound world of radical transdisciplinarity- and explore what happens when human insight meets artificial intelligence.

We’ll begin with a brief introduction to Edgar Morin, Dr.h.c. at Odense University (1994), a passionate critic of disciplinary silos and affectionately known in French social theory as “the unclassifiable.” Morin’s work challenges conventional boundaries, and this evening we take up that challenge.

Our transdisciplinary panel has read Morin’s evocative text “The Spirit of the Valley", a piece rich with Taoist undertones, and responded by co-creating an AI-generated poem. This poetic experiment explores the connections, contrasts, and resonances between their own fields and Morin’s ideas.

From this creative starting point, we invite you to reflect with us:
  • What are the possibilities and pitfalls of transdisciplinary thinking?
  • How does AI help - or hinder- our efforts to think beyond boundaries?
Expect lively conversation, unexpected insights, and a celebration of curiosity across disciplines.

This Wild Wednesday is open for all and requires no registration.
