The students’ own climate garden

In 2021, there will be leeks, carrots, tomatoes and thousands of eager earthworms in the climate garden to be established by a group of students from the Green Student Movement, just west of SDU's premises in Odense. Feel free to join.

Located three kilometres from the centre of Odense, the SDU Odense campus boasts both forest, fields and lots of scenic nature. And from next year, leeks, carrots, tomatoes and thousands of eager earthworms can be found in the upcoming climate garden to be founded by students from the Green Student Movement.

The garden actually has two purposes. It will, of course, serve as a vegetable plot for the students who work in it and grow vegetables – but it will also serve as a gathering point for all the students who are interested in climate issues and sustainability.

– The garden actually has two purposes. It will, of course, serve as a vegetable plot for the students who work in it and grow vegetables – but it will also serve as a gathering point for all the students who are interested in climate issues and sustainability, says Ludger and Christel, who, together with a small group from the Odense branch of the Green Student Movement, are behind the application for funding for the University.

In addition to having a large box filled with fertile soil in which to grow your vegetables, in the long run you will also be able to enjoy lectures and workshops as well as help to establish permaculture in the climate garden. The establishment group will hold the first general meeting of the climate garden association in September. For more info, check out ‘Klimahave SDU’ on Facebook.

– We want to create an active and vibrant community around climate and sustainability for students who are seriously interested in climate issues. We believe we can generate a higher level of awareness and inspire everyone to help do something good for the world.
