Study activity and grant

When you receive the State Educational Grant (SU), you must fulfill the study activity requirements

Your study activity (study progress) is reviewed each year in March and September by the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science and by the local SU-office at SDU.

Study activity requirements

Students must attend an exam in their first semester, to demonstrate attendance at the educational programme.

The rule applies both at the first semester of the bachelor’s programme and at the first semester of the master’s programme.

After the first semester, the requirements are as follows:

  • If you have been enrolled 1. July 2016 or later, the maximum allowed delay is 6 months.
  • If you have been enrolled before 1. July 2016, the maximum allowed delay is 12 months

You can reapply for SU once you have caught up on the delay. If you have been delayed due to illness, council work or other special circumstances, click here to read about additional grant portions

You must attend at least one exam in you first exam period.
The compulsory study start test does not count as an exam in this context.
The review is carried out by the local SU-office at SDU.

Your study activity (study progress) is reviewed by the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science.

If you do not meet the study activity requirements, you will be regarded as “not active”,  and you will receive a notice on your personal e-Boks, that you are no longer entitled to receive SU.

It is possible for you to see your own study activity here:
