Definitions for a standard page

All the course descriptions of this programme are approved by The Academic Study Board of Political Science. The study board has decided on the following definition of a standard page valid for all papers for which a maximum number of pages is stated in the course description:

A standard page includes 2,400 characters, including spaces.

The allowed maximum number of pages for a paper is calculated as X pages of 2,400 characters each, including spaces. The calculation must include the main text, appendices and notes, but exclude the table of contents and bibliography. Each student must calculate the total number of characters of the paper submitted on this basis and state the result on the front page. If this information is missing, the paper will be rejected.

If the allowed maximum length is exceeded, the paper will be rejected.

For bachelor projects and master theses, a special standard applies:

The paper is not allowed to exceed X pages of 2,400 characters each, including spaces. The calculation does not include appendices, notes, table of contents, abstract and bibliography. The number of characters must be stated on the front page of the paper. The paper will be rejected if the information is missing or if the allowed maximum length is exceeded.
