What are the time limit regulations?
The time limit regulations establish a limit for when you need to have finished your education. It is important that you are aware of the regulations and comply with them. If you do not adhere to the time limit, you will be expelled from your programme.
Time limits if you were enrolled the 1st of September 2015 or later.
- 3-Year Bachelor programmes must be completed within the standard time frame + 1 year
- 3.5-Year Bachelor programmes must be completed within the standard time frame + 1 year
- 2-Year Master’s degree programmes must be completed within the standard time frame + ½ year
- 2,5-Year Master’s degree programmes must be completed within the standard time frame + ½ year
- 3-Year Master’s degree programmes must be completed within the standard time frame + 1 year
Transitional arrangement for students enrolled before 1st September 2015
Bachelor’s- or professional bachelor's degree programmes
- If you are a bachelor’s or professional bachelor's degree student admitted to a course prescribed as consisting of 180 ECTS as of 01 Feb 2015, you need to have finished your education by 28 Feb. 2019.
- If you are a bachelor’s or professional bachelor's degree student admitted to a course prescribed as consisting of 180 ECTS before 01 Feb. 2015, you need to have finished your education by 31 Aug. 2018.
- If you are a bachelor’s or professional bachelor's degree student admitted to a course prescribed as consisting of 210 ECTS before 01 Feb. 2015, you need to have finished your education by 28 Feb. 2019.
- If you are a bachelor’s or professional bachelor's degree student admitted to a course prescribed as consisting of 240 ECTS before 01 Feb. 2015, you need to have finished your education by 31 Aug. 2018.
Master's degree programmes
- If you are a graduate student admitted to a course prescribed as consisting of 120 ECTS, you need to have finished your education by 28 Feb. 2018.
- If you are a graduate student admitted to a course prescribed as consisting of 150 ECTS, you need to have finished your education by 31 Aug. 2018.
- If you are a graduate student admitted to a course prescribed as consisting of 180 ECTS, you need to have finished your education by 28 Feb. 2019.
Note!
If you are enrolled in a programme that previously has had rules regarding when you must have completed your studies, you should be aware that you are still bound by these rules. Consequently, other time limits might apply for you than those listed above. This particularly applies to students enrolled in an engineering programme, in a science programme, or students enrolled in the medical programme. Find out from your programme regulations whether this is the case for you.
If you have problems living up to the time limit rules
You can apply for dispensation from the rules if there are extraordinary conditions, or if you are an elite athlete, president for an organisation under Danish Youth Council, or an entrepreneur. If you have problems living up to the time limit rules, you might contact an adviser in your programme for advice.
