Speeches

Chair of the Board's speech

Niels Thorborg

"The last six months have to that extent illustrated the need for the work that we have launched together at SDU with the UN's 17 world goals. The pandemic has just made it clear that the world goals are not just about the climate. They are also about disease control and strategies for how we as a society act when a dangerous virus develops on the other side of the globe."

Rector's speech

Henrik Dam

"I'm really sorry we had to cancel the anniversary party.

Therefore, I will instead talk about something that is very close to my mind. It is the simple fact that we humans can prepare ourselves. And that we owe it to each other to be prepared.

Researchers are excellent at preparing society. So how come we are not listening to the research anymore? "

Students' speech

Ida Bech Kargo Karlsen

"At SDU, we have the strongest and most ambitious students. And this spring, we really showed what we can do. When SDU closed down, and we were each alone with new forms of teaching and uncertainty about the exam - we jumped straight into it. We continued to study and we still insisted on becoming as proficient as possible."
